Acid Studio Lab — macOS

Privacy policy — macOS

Scope

macOS only — updated 6 September 2026

This policy describes the standalone Acid Studio Lab macOS application, not the separately hosted website. No account is created or required in the Mac application. These public information pages are hosted on the web: visiting them involves network connections, separate from the app's local workspace. For privacy questions, use the contact above.

Local operation and storage

The app processes creations and renders on your Mac. It does not upload your projects or media to a cloud service and has no analytics or advertising tracking service. The renderer uses bundled libraries and fonts rather than loading them from a CDN. Local projects, drafts, presets, settings and imported media may persist in the application's localStorage and IndexedDB storage between launches. These are local application data, separate from files you explicitly save in Finder.

Camera, microphone and MIDI

Camera and microphone features require macOS permission and process live inputs locally for visual effects, audio analysis and composition. The app does not automatically upload those streams. A voluntary image or video export can retain visible camera content or the result of audio-driven effects; the audio included depends on the selected export mode. Do not assume that an exported composition contains no personal information. Disable the input or quit the app to stop live use; revoke camera or microphone access in System Settings > Privacy & Security. MIDI messages from connected devices control parameters locally.

Installed fonts

The typography selector can enumerate installed font families automatically when it opens, and keeps a local cache of their names. A selected font may be read locally to render its outlines. This font list is not sent to the publisher. Bundled fonts have separate license notices; using an installed or imported font does not transfer its license or grant redistribution rights.

Retention and deletion limits

Local data is retained until you remove it; there is no automatic expiry. To remove a saved animation from the library, use its Delete command in My Animations. This does not guarantee deletion of editor drafts, imported media, settings or the font-name cache. There is currently no single reset command that erases all application storage. For complete manual removal, quit the app and ask Support for the storage location for your distribution before deleting anything: Mac App Store and direct-download installations may use different containers. Support cannot remotely erase data on your Mac.

Exported images, videos and project files remain wherever you saved them. Remove them separately in Finder, including copies or backups you control. Deleting the application itself is not a promise that its internal data, exported files or backups are erased.

External links, support and HTML exports

Following an external link opens your web browser and connects to that site under its own privacy policy. If you email Support, you voluntarily send your address, message and any attachments through your mail provider; do not include sensitive projects unnecessarily. HTML exports opened outside the app can load p5.js from cdnjs and other external resources used by the sketch. Those browser connections are separate from local export generation; the HTML is not guaranteed offline.
